5 Healthy Alternatives to Game Day Snacks
Football is a way of life here in Oklahoma, but I know that families and groups of friends around the country love getting together to watch the big games and even the less important games. For some people, the game is really more about the friends and snacks than what’s happening on the field. For those people who care more about socializing than the game, football season can lead to the dreaded football 15. This is a lesser known version of the freshman 15, but basically cooler weather combined with lots of Sundays watching TV can equal weight gain!
If you’ve noticed that your tummy is inflating faster than a Patriots’ ball deflates (sorry, I had to) you’ve probably wished that there were some healthier options for you to serve (or bring) besides the standard chips and dips. The Gold Emblem line at CVS Pharmacy has a ton of great-tasting healthier snack choices.
Here are my five favorites:
Wasabi Soy Almonds (absolutely my favorite)
Air-popped Barbecue Potato Fries
Spicy Sriracha Popcorn
Jalapeño Cheddar Quinoa Puffs
As you can see, the Gold Emblem line doesn’t rely on fat and sugar for tasty snacks, instead they up the flavor and use healthy ingredients like popcorn and quinoa to make the snacks tasty and good for you.
You could also create some physical challenges around the game. For example, doing five push ups for every touchdown, or fans of the losing team have to run laps around the house after the game. Maybe a game of touch football in the yard during halftime? Anything you can do to get your guests moving will help everyone enjoy the game more, especially if you have kids watching the game, making sure they move around will keep your house from getting destroyed!
