To be honest I just kept making things for my Thanksgiving centerpiece. I’d glitter this and paint that and decoupage something else and it just became… too much. And so I put all of my gold and glittery things to the side and started over. From scratch.

I tried to think of things that seemed very of the season for my centerpiece. Things I love about this time of year.

I am a nut (pun intended) for nuts in shell. Pomegranates area huge weakness, too. Oh, and I can’t forget Bosc pears that are the most Autumnal looking fruit I can think of. And then I thought it would be neat to make a centerpiece that would mostly get used. If I used fresh fruit and nuts, they could be eaten! And so it came together and, as it just so happens, I love it.

For this project you will need:

I was initially going to use a gigantic frame that is a good 2 feet wide but then I decided against it since my table is small. In the end, I went with an 8×10 frame I pulled off of the dresser to borrow for the occasion. The larger the frame, the more stuff you’ll need to fill it up, and don’t forget that it needs to fit on your table to be an effective centerpiece!

You won’t see this paper until things start getting munched on and your produce starts disappearing. Though I couldn’t find any here at home, I really would have preferred using some paper with printed fall leaves on it!

Take your hot glue and run along the top and bottom edges of the burlap and press down onto the candle. DO NOT press down with your fingers because the glue will come through the very loose weave and burn you. Go all the way around until fully covered.

First, place your candles inside the frame where you want them. Place your nuts all around and finally add in your fruit.

Light ’em up and you’re all done. Voila!

This is super simple and it took a lot of very difficult concepts before I finally arrived at this one. There is no glitter or glitz but I love it  so much. It’s simple, it’s pretty and it’s functional!
