With the end of summer pretty much here, the boredom of summer has definitely been making us all a little nutty.

This acorn donut hole recipe is a fun way to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of fall!

Which may be why my nine-year-old and I are super excited to see The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, in theaters August 11th.

About The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature

Surly Squirrel (Will Arnett) and the gang are back. We are once again in Oakton where the evil mayor has decided to bulldoze Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park in its place. Surly and his ragtag group of animal friends band together to save their home, defeat the mayor, and take back the park.

I knew from the moment we watched the trailer that this was going to be a super cute and mega funny movie that my son is going to love. Honestly, he’s asked me near daily if it’s August 11th yet.

Acorn Donut Holes Recipe

Ingredients:

  • store bought donut holes
  • Nutella or chocolate frosting
  • fall sprinkles
  • stick pretzels, broken in halves

Directions:

  1. Dump fall sprinkles in a small bowl (I mixed two types of sprinkles together). Lay down wax paper in preparation for assembly of the acorns.
  2. Melted Nutella or chocolate frosting in the microwave in a deep, small bowl about 15-20 seconds or until just melted. Dip each donut hole halfway into Nutella/frosting, then dip in sprinkles. Place a stick pretzel, broken in half, into the top of the "acorn" and let cool on wax paper.
