Amy’s Favorite Things: Part 7

Amy's Favorite Things: Part 7

It’s been almost two years since I published a “My Favorite Things” post, so I decided that I’m bringing it back! It is now “Amy’s Favorite Things” but all the same. Holla!

If you have been following me on Instagram for the last week or so, you know that I just spent a week visiting India. I am still processing the experience and will be sharing my recap next week. In the meantime, you can read my daily updates on the Mom Spark Facebook page.

Now, on to my favorite things this week!

bento boxes.

I’m WAY behind on the bento box craze, but now that I’m knee-deep in it, I cannot get enough. Charlie, my 6 year-old, now wants a bento lunch everyday for school and eats every bit of the food in it! Seriously, so much fun. Here are a few of my favorite bento pieces:

  • planetbox
  • silicone cup liners
  • bento picks
  • sandwich cutters
  • fruit or cheese cutters

While in India, I had the most beautiful mehndi art put on my arm by an amazing woman at the Career Development Center in Dasna. It was surprisingly therapeutic watching her work on my arm, so much that I really didn’t want her to stop! I love it so much.

white coffee carafe

A few months ago, my pal and fellow Mom Spark writer Desiree introduced me to the world of French press coffee, which is THE best way to enjoy coffee. She recommended the Bodum, which is the absolute best man for the job, but the coffee didn’t stay warm for long after the first cup. Soooooo I read online that it’s a good idea to store French press coffee into a carafe of some kind. I searched on Amazon and found this carafe for $14, which had glowing reviews, and thought I would give it a try.

The result? OMG, AMAZING. This sucker keeps my coffee warm for around 8 hours. No exaggeration. For reals. I even got Desiree on the wagon, too. She even blogged about it this week. BUY THIS CARAFE. It’s not the prettiest carafe, granted, but you won’t care once you start using it.

I NEVER thought in a million years that I would ever purchase a pair of Birkenstocks. Like, ever. To be brutally honest, I just never liked the style of Birks. BUT Sarah James from Whoorl piped up on Facebook one day about her love for Birkenstock Gizeh Sandals (thong style), which she wore nearly every day. So, I gave them a try. Now I find myself wearing them nearly every day. So, thanks Sarah, now I need EVERY SINGLE COLOR.

You know that feeling of needing a major change with your hair? I found myself there a couple weeks ago. I knew that I didn’t want to go short, as I really do love my hair as long as it is, but I did want something different. Perhaps edgy. Soooooo, I went with a fun undercut and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. The stylist originally cut the section with scissors, which was pretty cool, but I ended up shaving it at home the next day for a more dramatic look.

Stay tuned for Amy’s Favorite Things next week – Part 8! See past posts here.
