PR Asking Bloggers to Review Products They Will Never Receive

Business discussion

Lately, I have been taken aback with requests from PR to review products based only on images and written copy.  In other words, requests to review items that I will never touch, see, or most importantly, test.  Did you just let out a “Huh?” Yeah, my sentiments exactly. While I understand the sad attempt to score a written review by a blogger without actually sending an item to them, I do not see how even the newest of bloggers would accept such an “offer”?  Even

Dear Mom Spark, A Blogger Stole My Idea

Dear Mom Spark

Welcome to our new “Dear Mom Spark” series!  The concept of “Dear Mom Spark” is simple: readers submit their questions to us and we feature these questions in a blog post. (one question per blog post, bi-weekly) Our readers (fellow moms) then offer their advice by leaving a comment.  Questions can run the gamut – parenting, business, women’s issues, blogging or general life.  Our ultimate goal is to help women and moms, so comments will be closely monitored for inappropriate or offensive material.  Questions can be

This post is a trimmed down version of an article I wrote for my Mom Spark Media members.  I wanted to share some ideas here, too, because I felt it provided a nice follow-up to my “What is Your Mom Blogger Status?” post that I published a year and a half ago. (wow, has it really been that long?) Since my last post, I’ve been to several events sponsored by brands. (Betty Crocker, EA Sports, Gatorade, Orlando Travel Board & eBay to name a few)

Your Blog Is Your Brand, So Trademark & Buy Extra Domains

I have been contemplating how to write this post.  Frankly, the whole incident saddens me.  The purpose of this piece isn’t to point fingers, name-call, or spew any hate.  It’s simply to inform you, my fellow bloggers, to protect your blog, which is, in fact, your brand.  Claim every domain that includes your brand name and trademark that name ASAP.  You never know who or what will haunt you later if you don’t. When I created Mom Spark back in July 2008, I was a

My New Venture – Mom Spark Media

msm-4

So, after many months of planning, brainstorming, and late nights, Mom Spark has officially launched Mom Spark Media.  This is my most exciting venture thus far and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! What is Mom Spark Media? We are not a traditional media company because we offer more services than a blogger network and outreach to brands.  Our bloggers come first and because of that we not only offer brand ambassador programs, online campaigns (via blogging, social networking, video, home parties,
