We are here with a new Dear Mom Spark! Need a sounding board? Simply submit a question (click here to submit) to Dear Mom Spark and we will do our best to feature. Please feel free to submit anonymously. Dear Mom Spark, I have a friend; we’ve been friends for over four years. She has three young children and recently started back to work. I have agreed to be her day care provider. The problem is that I didn’t know her as well as I thought. Her…

Has it really been 10 years? The memory is so vivid. I don’t think any of us will ever forget where we were, and what we were doing when it happened. On the morning of September 11, 2001, I was driving to work. At the time, my husband produced and co-hosted a morning radio show, so I was listening to his show as I drove. As soon as the news hit that a plane had crashed into the first tower my husband’s show reported it,…

A few days ago, I was feeling a down. This time last year, I had already traveled from Los Angeles to Orlando and back again for various press events, conferences, and consultation meetings. I remember actually turning down invites because my schedule was so packed. It was a great position to be in, honestly. This year has been different. Very different. For one, my work has changed. I remember hearing a radio commercial from LegalZoom and being intrigued. Could this be the answer I was looking for as a business owner? Yes, it was! After creating my trademark with LegalZoom, I was…

When Lands’ End approached me about reviewing one of their swimsuits AND posting a photo of myself in the swimsuit for National Swimsuit Confidence Week, I was a little hesitant. I didn’t think in a gazillion years that I would do such a thing, but the more I thought about the message of having confidence with my body, the more it became appealing. Like many mothers, my body hasn’t been the same since having children. I lived most of my life very thin and scrawny,…

Two weeks ago, my husband, 3 year-old, and myself picked up my oldest son from school and headed straight for Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas. My son had NO IDEA that we were going to Great Wolf and surprisingly didn’t say a word until 45 minutes into our drive. Son: “WHERE are we going? You’ve been driving forever.” Us: “Oh, we’re going to IKEA, a furniture store. It’s a long drive, but they have great furniture so it’s worth it. Plus, it’s Mother’s Day…
