Big Crowds, Little Kids

I will start by sharing a few of my tips about wrangling my little ones in big crowds but what I am hoping for out of this post is a lot of comments and tips from all of you readers. Lets start a conversation about this because it is summer travel time and whether you plan on being a tourist or if your town becomes flooded with tourists in the summer, it is always good to have a plan when you are dealing with big

Consider Chicago for Your Next Family Vacation

Chicago is a great destination for a family vacation, especially if you’re looking for an alternative to the usual amusement parks and beaches this summer. My husband and I visit Chi-town often, and just a couple weeks ago we took our boys with us for the first time. Here’s some travel suggestions to help you plan your trip to the Windy City. Where to Stay Look for hotels in the Streeterville, Gold Coast and Loop areas. Those locations will put you close to the major

Orlando: Gatorland

See more Orlando adventures here! The second morning of our Orlando journey was spent at a place I had never heard of before, Gatorland.  It was such a nice, refreshing change from the busy day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that we had experienced the day before.  The sky was overcast, but was not raining, so the weather was absolutely perfect!  A perfect morning to stroll through Gatorland. Gatorland is known as the “Alligator Capital of the World”, but the park also includes various reptiles, birds,

Tips for Surviving a Road Trip with Kids

1. Don’t believe the ETA on the GPS. They have yet to find an accurate algorithm that calculates ETA when traveling with children. Add one extra hour for every three of what the GPS says, and you’ll get you a close guess. 2. Snacks keep little hands and mouths busy. I am originally from ND and while growing up our big family vacations were always to the Twin Cities. Even though I have been a resident for over 2 1/2 years, I still feel like a tourist. I get excited when I drive the 20

Orlando: Loews Royal Pacific Resort

See more Orlando adventures here! My son and I arrived at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort on Friday, March 26, around 7:15 p.m, tired and hungry.  Our fatigue was quickly forgotten, though, when we stepped out of the car.  Our first reaction was “Wow, this hotel is awesome!”  The staff pointed to the front door, which was just across a long bridge that overlooked a lagoon-style river, which ran along the hotel.  We could immediately hear the roaring of roller coasters coming from the Universal

Things I Learned While Flying with a Baby

Back in July ’08, I asked for tips on traveling/flying with an infant. I researched, researched, researched and felt I had it ALL figured out. Here are some things I DIDN’T plan on. Info: Total flight time: around 4.5 hours Total time in air & at airport: almost 9 hours Airline: Southwest Airlines What I experienced: 1. We arrived at the airport WAY too early. We arrived two hours in advance and it only took 30 minutes to check in & go through security. This
