Cool Finds: In My Dream… Foyer!

Maybe “foyer” is too grand a word to describe what most of us have in our homes, but whether you have a mudroom, a tiny hallway or an entrance with 10-foot ceilings, this is the first room that people see when the walk in and so it should be a lovely sight! (Even if beyond the foyer you may have books shoved under your couch, dishes in the oven and toys hidden away in every nook and cranny!)

In our little wartime 1 1/2-story home, our “foyer” is a rather small hall with hooks for hanging coats & bags, and a little mat for shoes. It’s certainly lacking inspiration at the moment, but we have plans to paint (a warm, welcoming colour) and I know it could use a bit of de-cluttering, and perhaps a little more storage. Here are some functionally fantastic foyers that I’ve come across over the last little while.

What an incredibly calming atmosphere to walk into! This entryway feels cozy, yet spacious at the same time. There’s so much charm with the molding, radiator and neutral palette — definitely a favourite in my books. There’s nothing in the way of storage here, but I do like that bench with it’s lovely woven seat.

What I love: The gorgeous floorboards, the door and surrounding windows, the ornately framed art & the house number in the transom. [Read more...]
