Child Identity Theft

Children are becoming the main target for identity theft! Social Security numbers of children are considered very valuable by identity thieves because parents are unlikely to check the credit reports of their children. Thieves are long gone before it is noticed and the damage to your child can be huge. According to the FTC, identity theft is by far the #1 issue they deal with.

I have seen stories like this on tv where kids try and get college loans and find out they can’t since their credit is ruined. In many cases it is one of their own parents and to me this is just the worse. It is bad enough to have your identity stolen but by someone you love makes it even worse.

Wow! Just one more thing we have to worry about for our children. How in the world do they get our children’s information? Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
