Connecting with Dog Lovers on Woofpup

When my kids first started asking for a dog, I didn’t think that much about it. I grew up with a dog, my husband grew up with a dog, it just seemed like a natural fit. I wasn’t one of those naive moms who thought that the kids would feed and walk the dog. I knew that since I work from home a lot of the dog care would fall to me.

I still thought the dog would be the “kids’ dog.” With two kids, a husband, and a job, I was not really looking for something else to take my attention. But we didn’t have Sammy for long before he became not only my responsibility, but my dog. Sammy follows me everywhere. If my husband or son tries to sit next to me on the couch, Sammy is there to shut that down. Even more surprising than how much Sammy is my dog is how much I really don’t mind. I love the guy, he’s my third kid.

One thing about being a parent today is that you can’t do it without social media. I’m not just talking about sharing pictures and making plans, I rely on all my different social media groups for information about the kids’ schools, places to buy less expensive clothes, and general advice. Social media has really helped me create a community around being a parent. Now, dog owners have their own place for building that community, Woofpup.com.

Woofpup is a fun, safe environment where the whole family can get online to look at and share dog pictures, and get more information about dogs. If you think your dog has what it takes to be a superstar, you can enter Woofpup.com’s monthly contest. Every month Woofpup.com will hold a contest for one dog to be crowned the Woofpup of the Month. The dog’s owner will win $500 and get the cutest prize of all – a cuddly cute plush Woofpup created to look like his or her pup!

Look at this sweet guy, Riley, that Woofpup sent me.

He’s almost as cuddly as my real dog.  I have a feeling my two human kids will be fighting over him. I’m also thinking the box is cute enough to reuse for pet supplies.

Each 8-inch plush Woofpup is also available for purchase on Woofpup.com for $29.95. They have a personalized collar and name-tag, and the Woofpup logo embroidered on its paw. If you know you’re going to want all the pups, you can get a monthly subscription service as a Premium Member, where the Woofpup of the Month will automatically be delivered to their homes at a discounted price of $19.95 a month.

I never thought I’d be one of those dog owners who talked about her “baby,” but here I am. I’m glad Woofpup.com gives me a fun, safe place to share the joy of my dog with other people who understand!
