Cool Finds: Favourite Thrift Shop Mugs

I suspect many of us hardcore thrifters often have one thing that they’re always looking for when they visit second hand shops or yardsales… perhaps you always find yourself looking in the vintage toy section, or records, or books. For me, I always hit the mug section first. I usually end up having this conversation with myself:

“Ooh, I love that mug.”
“But do you NEED it?”
“Well… no… but it’s SO cute/charming/unique/funny/fits in my hand just right.”
“Sigh.”
“And it’s only $0.69!”
*in the cart it goes*

I suspect my inner monologue is giving up on me.

But NOW I get to share three of my favourite thrift shop mug finds! Take THAT moderation and restraint!

This first one is my most recent mug find. A friend and I visited our local Value Village together a few days ago and this was the first thing we both reached for. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have already seen a snapshot! (Psst… I think this one might be a gift for a friend.) I loved seeing all the comments about people having this mug! A popular one — for good reason! Ahhhhdorable.

This one I found a few years back and I fell in love with the little images on it. Made in Britain and it feels quite light in my hands. It’s a favourite for my daughter who likes to have tea time with her mama.

This one was actually a Christmas gift for Gretchen, the year she was going through her PUPPY MOVIE(!!!) phase. Our housemate at the time, showed Gretchen 101 Dalmatians for the first time, and it became the only movie ever played in our house for about 6 months. Phew.

So tell me, what’s your favourite thing to thrift for? Is there a collection accidentally building somewhere in your home? Share your stories in the comments!

    I love the garden one!!

When I used to go to thrift stores..candy dishes were my thing. I collected them for a bit. I still have most, but boxed up since I have kids now and not a lot of space to display them.

I have never tried an auction before. I think I would get in trouble!

I have the same thrift addiction lol I love knowing you can in a thrift and not see the same ole same ole that a store will have. I got my sister the prettiest Thomas Kincade Mug for Christmas at one of my favorite thrift stores, she loves waterfalls and it was such a pretty one. My new found passion is making cake stands from mixtures of vases, plates etc. And just for pennies you can create one that is such a OOAK
