Dear Mom Spark, A Blogger Stole My Idea

Welcome to our new “Dear Mom Spark” series!  The concept of “Dear Mom Spark” is simple: readers submit their questions to us and we feature these questions in a blog post. (one question per blog post, bi-weekly) Our readers (fellow moms) then offer their advice by leaving a comment.  Questions can run the gamut – parenting, business, women’s issues, blogging or general life.  Our ultimate goal is to help women and moms, so comments will be closely monitored for inappropriate or offensive material.  Questions can be submitted anonymously as well.

Dear Mom Spark,

I don’t want to get too specific because I would like to stay anonymous, but I’m 100% sure another blogger stole a business idea of mine. Basically, I discussed an idea with this particular blogger in trust (I thought), and he/she basically ran with it leaving me behind.  This blogger is even profiting off of this idea now.

Honestly, I’m more hurt than anything.  I feel like a dummy, too.  What can I do to protect my ideas in the future?  Is there legal action I can take when ideas are stolen?

Thank you for your consideration,
