Dear Mom Spark, a PR company asked me not to disclose

Welcome to our new “Dear Mom Spark” series!  The concept of “Dear Mom Spark” is simple: readers submit their questions to us and we feature these questions in a blog post. (one question per blog post, bi-weekly) Our readers (fellow moms) then offer their advice by leaving a comment.  Questions can run the gamut – parenting, business, women’s issues, blogging or general life.  Our ultimate goal is to help women and moms, so comments will be closely monitored for inappropriate or offensive material.  Questions can be submitted anonymously as well. (and more are)

Dear Mom Spark,

A few weeks ago, I was approached by a PR rep to write a sponsored blog post.  After a few email exchanges, I was told that I was not to disclose that I received payment for the post.  I felt extremely uncomfortable at that point and backed out. (I told the PR rep that I would not feel comfortable doing it)

Shortly after, I started seeing bloggers posting the same sponsored post without a disclosure!!!  I couldn’t believe that so many ended up doing it without a disclosure.

I have honestly been in shock since this has happened and I have NO IDEA what to do. Should I blog about it?  Approach the bloggers who didn’t disclose? (some are actually my online friends)  I feel so disturbed and unsettled that I’m not sure what to do at this point.

What would you do?

Sincerely,

Anonymous
