So, I have already shared my review on Disney’s FROZEN, but now it’s time to chat about GET A HORSE!, a Disney short that is featured before the film. Here is a bit of a preview:

I certainly do not want to spill too much in case you haven’t seen GET A HORSE!yet, but I will share that Disney did a fantastic job of combining the old animation of the original Mickey Mouse cartoons with today’s state of the art computer graphics. While the black and white animation looks old, it was actually created by Disney’s current team, which was more difficult that you would expect.

Director Lauren MacMullan, Producer Dorothy McKim, Legendary Disney artist Eric Goldberg and CG animator Adam Green sat down with us for short interview, in which they showed us the process of getting that retro cartoon look, which included making intentional mistakes in the drawings as the old artists would have done years ago. Remember, there were no fancy computers to perfect the animation back then!

Eric Goldberg even gave us a quick drawing class! This is supposed to be Pete, but I’m not sure it looks anything like him. I think I’ll keep my day job.

GET A HORSE! was a ton of fun to watch, especially in 3D! I hope you will check it out when you see FROZEN, in theaters now!
