Easy Football Game Day Snack Food Ideas!
This post was sponsored by Cooked Perfect, but all ideas are my own.
I know a lot of people complain about being a “football or basketball widow,” meaning that once a sports season is in session, they don’t see their spouse very often. Not me. I like to use televised sports as an excuse to invite friends over, catch up and try new snack foods. Many people plan parties for the “big game,” but I think it’s fun to have people over throughout the season. It makes those big game parties even more fun.
In my mind, game day snacks have four main requirements. First, serving sizes have to be flexible. You never know how many people are going to come over and watch a game, and you never know how long a game is actually going to take. Which means, you basically never know how much food you’re going to need.
That’s why the second requirement is that the snacks have to be prepared fairly quickly. The last thing you want is to be out of food during a tense moment in the game.
Third, you need to have options for everyone, as you never know when someone will show up with a guest!
Fourth, I want to feel better about the snacks I serve my family. A lot of people don’t consider healthy game day snacks a requirement, but in my mind, if your planned activity for the day involves sitting on your couch and staring at a TV, you probably shouldn’t be inhaling unhealthy food at the same time, ha!
One of my new go-to snacks for game day is Cooked Perfect Premium Fire Grilled Wings. The wings meet all of my requirements because chicken is such a flexible food that almost everyone eats. Cooked Perfect offers premium chicken wings with no breading, so there are less carbs, and lets my friends and family enjoy more delicious chicken.
The wings are marinated and fully cooked, so they are easy to prepare. You just heat and serve. Of course, these wings also meet my unstated fifth requirement, the Zesty Herbs & Spice Chicken wings are delicious! Fire Grilled Wings are cooked over an open fire to lock in flavor. I like to serve wings with veggies, and sometimes even some fruit!
The Cooked Perfect Premium Fire Grilled line also has frozen, fully-cooked drumsticks, thighs, tenders and chunks in different flavors, so if you are looking for additional ideas for parties or weeknight dinner, you have a lot of options. Two of their other flavors that I think would make excellent game day snacks include Bourbon BBQ Chicken Thighs and Lemon Herb Tenders.
These flavor-filled offerings are available at Kroger, Stop & Shop, Giant and Wegmans stores and will be expanded to other retailers throughout 2017. You can find your store on their handy store locator. They’ve also got a handy digital coupon here so that you can try them yourself (expires 2/23/17).
