Enjoy a Healthful Vacation with Swisotel
Travel is good for the soul and the mind, but not always so good for staying healthy. Especially if you’re traveling with kids. That’s why I really like Swissôtel’s commitment to wellness.
One of the things I’ve found is that on vacation, my family really likes a little downtime in the hotel. I like to explore a little more of the town I’m in, so a great way for me to do that is to take a late morning or early evening walk or jog while the kids chill out. I love that Swissotel provides local jogging maps for their locations. I get my exercise, and can scope out the area and ideas for the family. If you’re traveling alone, or are more of an inside person, they also provide in-room exercise cards as well. You can see both at each hotel’s website, so it’s a great way to start your vacation early.
Traveling with kids can make food especially difficult. You want to give your kids special treats, because special treats are part of vacation, BUT you don’t want to fall into the ice cream for dinner every night trap (wait, is that just me that has fallen into that trap?). Too much indulging on vacation can make getting back into healthy habits a challenge when you get home. Over indulging can also make it hard for you to get the most out of your vacation.
That’s one of the things I love about Swissotel’s “Vitality Drinks.” They’re all fancy, fun, and healthy – equally appropriate for kids and adults, snacks or treats. I decided to try this recipe for a Morning Rainbow at home.
Morning Rainbow drink recipe:
- 250 g (about 9 oz) frozen raspberries
- 150 g (about 5 oz) frozen mango
- 160 ml (about 5 1/2 oz) orange juice
- 160 ml(about 5/12 oz) milk
- Mix raspberries and milk in a blender and pour into a glass. Blend mango and orange juice and carefully float as the next layer on top, like a pousse-café. Serve with a straw.
I have to say, mine didn’t turn out half bad! I was even able to layer the two flavors, cleaning out my single serve smoothie maker between layers.
You can see Swissotel’s commitment to natural health in this fabulous infographic they put out about great juices for different seasons. The infographic is titled “Juicing for Every Type of Holiday,” just a reminder that Europeans use the word “holiday” to mean vacation, so this isn’t about holidays as we think about them, but about vacations.
Are you ready for a fantastic and healthful vacation (or holiday)? Make sure to consider Swissotel locations.
