Essential Oils For Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all the awesome moms out there! Since today is all about YOU, I think you deserve a little (a lot!) of pampering. Today, for something a little different, I wanted to share all the great ways you can incorporate essential oils into your life in ways that will make you feel energized, relaxed, soothed, refreshed, and more!
There are so many ways to use essential oils in your daily life, but TODAY is all about MOM! Here’s how YOU can pamper yourself this Mother’s Day!
Essential Oils For Mother’s Day: A Whole Day Of Oil Enjoyment!
In the morning (so right now!) treat yourself to an invigorating and energizing shower with a few drops of lemon essential oil, or Citrus Fresh blend. The bright and fresh citrus scents will wake you up and make you feel ready to take on the day!
Hopefully someone is making you some tasty breakfast right now, so you can hang out in the bathroom after your shower with a little coconut oil and some Frankincense! I LOVE taking a little bit of coconut oil (or another carrier oil, like the V6 carrier oil from Young Living) along with a few drops of Frankincense, and rubbing it into my legs, arms, belly, and face! Your skin will thank you and you’ll love how soft it feels when you’re finished.
Head on out to the kitchen for breakfast with the fam (I hope they made waffles!) and enjoy every bite. Mother’s Day should be all about relaxing and celebrating motherhood, so even if someone isn’t making you breakfast this morning, you can enlist your kiddos to help out with the scrambled eggs — or maybe they’ll fetch you the cream for your coffee! If coffee isn’t your thing, try a little Thieves Tea! This recipe is delicious, with just a little honey to taste, and the fantastic flavours of Thieves and lemon essential oil. You’ll definitely enjoy this one if you’ve been feeling under the weather this week.
If you’re heading out on some sort of family adventure for Mother’s Day — the zoo, the beach, the movie theatre — bring along a little peppermint oil, preferably with a rollerball on the top of the bottle for easy application. This is my favourite for combatting those sudden headaches that might crop up on a family outing. I’ll just leave it at that!
If you get stuck in traffic on the way home, add a little Stress Away to your wrists and the whole experience won’t be quite as dramatic. Get the kiddos to play a car game or sing along to the radio while you make your way back home!
Back at home, it’s time for a relaxing afternoon or evening. Maybe you pop in a movie or the kids play and you snuggle up on your sofa with a great (or trashy!) novel, some chocolate covered pretzels (my favourite!), and a cozy blanket. Pop a few drops of Peace & Calming oil blend in your diffuser for a mellow feeling all around. I also like to diffuse this in my daughter’s room while she sleeps, or I’ll add a drop to her pillow.
After the kids are in bed, treat yourself to a gorgeous oil-infused soak in the tub! A few drops of bergamot essential oil or ylang ylang are a great choice. You can also mix a few drops of oils into a jar of epsom salts before adding the salts to your bath. This helps them dissolve evenly with the oils. Feels amazing!
Lastly, before you head to bed tonight, spritz your sheets with a combination of water and lavender oil. Just a few drops to a spray bottle will do and you’ll find yourself drifting off to sleep in a rather peaceful sort of way.
I hope these ideas will help you to get the most out of your essential oils this Mother’s Day… and every single day when you need a little boost! Self care is HUGE deal to me — since most moms are taking care of so many others before themselves, it’s SUPER important to take the time to make sure we are getting what we need too. Wishing you the most wonderful Mother’s Day and days to come!
PS. Here’s a snapshot of the little miss that made me a mama six years ago! Love you, Gretchen!
