Stylish Winter Boots for Women
I used to think I had to sacrifice being stylish for being WARM during our chilly Canadian winters… but I’ve come to realize you’ve just got to hunt around til you find the perfect combination of style AND warmth — it’s not impossible! Last year I made the bold decision to drop a little coin on a pair of winter boots (which ended up being on sale, yay!) which would keep me cozy throughout the season without looking like the Abominable Snowman. (Same goes for the beautiful parka I bought last year! Super warm. Super pretty.)
Today I wanted to share some more ideas for cozy winter footwear that you’ll actually WANT to put on your feet — no matter what you outfit may be!
These Dolce Vita’s are a fantastic height for pairing with your favourite party dress or to tuck your jeans into. While they won’t do for trudging through the forest on your Christmas Tree hunt, they’re great for a last-minute shopping trip and that New Year’s Even shindig you’ve been planning!
Sorel KNOWS winter boots AND winter boots for the stylish. Warm and cozy with a funky herringbone pattern, these buckled boots will keep your toes super cozy. Also, you’ll leave sweet little snowflake bootprints everywhere you step!
I really do love my leopard print, ladies. So there was no question about these Sperry Top-Siders making it onto this list! Just be sure to add a waterproofing spray as soon as you bring them home for maximum protection. (I suggest this for almost all of your winter boots, actually. And be sure to do your spraying outside — no yucky fumes inside!)
I adore these super tall lace-up Timberlands. Suede uppers, a soft fleece interior, and (my favourite part) an inside full-length zipper for easy on/off action. We LOVE the laces but no one really want to do them up, right?
Lastly, I dig the durable soles on these North Face boots, which actually have temperature sensitive material for superior traction. Sign me up for that!
A funny store about when I was pregnant: I am not the most dainty human alive. In fact, I’m clumsy… terribly clumsy, which was amplified during my pregnancy as a result of all those pesky hormones and the 50lbs I gained. This meant that I was in constant terror of slipping on the ice when I was 9 months massive. To solve this problem, I wore the most hideous pair of super-griptastic men’s winter boots which were a size too big so I could wear incredibly warm socks and I looked like a waddling giant walking down the sidewalks… but never ONCE did I slip and fall!
These days I opt for a pair of bright orange Sorel’s… and I’m doing just fine!
PS. More awesome winter boots!
