Frequently Asked Questions About My Husband’s EMMY
If you missed the announcement a few weeks ago, my husband won an EMMY. It was a monumental night for him! See.
While at BlogHer ’12, several people come up to me asking about my husband’s EMMY award, so I decided to write a post dedicated to these questions. Enjoy!
WHAT DOES YOUR HUSBAND DO?
Where do I start? He has his hand is several different pots. Perhaps I should use bullet points:
- Voiceover Artist for a local television station
- Creative Director for a local media company/ad agency (video, radio, jingles, graphics, print ads, etc.)
- 2 Movie Guys Personality (local movie review/comedy duo)
IS IT A REAL EMMY?
Yes, it is. EMMY awards are given to various television personalities throughout the country, including national and local celebrities.
WHAT CATEGORY DID HE WIN IN?
Arts/Entertainment Program/Special. The 2 Movie Guys put together holiday specials each year that air on Oklahoma City’s NBC affiliate on Christmas Day. They are wacky. Even a little weird. BUT hilarious.
Their 2010 special was nominated, but didn’t win. This is 2010’s special below. Some of the personalities are local television personalities, so some of the inside humor may not make sense.
They didn’t expect to win for 2011’s special, but they did. This special isn’t online, but here is the preview:
Also, some music from the 2011 holiday special:
WHAT ELSE HAS RYAN DONE?
Ryan has written numerous radio/television jingles and commercials in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and other markets which he has received over 30 ADDY Awards. He has also starred in a few indie films and is currently working a full feature film himself. (with a little help from me)
Ryan made this short film for the 43 Second Festival titled Unpleasant Necessities. It is one of my favorites. WARNING: It is a little weird.
In addition, Ryan was the lead singer and guitar player for Smarty Pants, an alternative rock band for 10 years (here a Smarty Pants song – A Horrible Day) and a performer for Big Magic Book, a touring live children’s show (here a Big Magic Book song – I’m Not Scared of Anything – the kid is my son, when he was 5!).
And then there was the time he sang and played piano for me at our wedding – I’m In Love With You (he may kill me for this, but it means a lot to me)
So, there you have it. That’s my husband. 🙂
