How to Keep Fruit and Salad the Freshest
Did you know that May was “National Salad Month”? It’s true.
This may have a lot to do with people trying to get ready for swimsuit season, or spring providing more and more fresh produce at farm stands and farmer’s markets.
For me, every month is salad month. I love a great salad, especially one that uses fruits and vegetables. I find that adding berries and other fruits not only allows me to save calories by using less salad dressing (because the berries are so moist and flavorful) but also attract even my pickiest eater. Combining fruits with your salad is a great way to encourage kids who don’t like vegetables to try something new.
The issue is, though that sometimes I can’t use my salad ingredients quickly enough before they go bad. I’m busy and like to reduce grocery trips by buying a lot of produce at once, but I don’t want to be wasteful. That’s why I was so happy to discover Rubbermaid Freshworks Produce Saver. FreshWorks helps keep the ingredients of my favorite salads, including leafy greens and berries, fresh up to 80% longer.
Many times, fruits and vegetables are not actually packaged in the best way for keeping them fresh. This is especially true if you’re buying produce at a smaller location, or directly from a farmer or farmstand. But, Freshworks Produce Saver revolutionary FreshVent technology creates a great environment for fruits and vegetables by regulating the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide in and out of the produce container.
The CrispTray at the bottom of the food container elevates produce away from moisture and promotes airflow to help prevent spoilage. The built-in lid filter never needs to be replaced and will last a lifetime.
Using the Produce Saver is easy. When you come home from the grocery, simply transfer your fruits and vegetables directly to the Saver. It’s actually best if you DON’T wash or cut the veggies first, they last longer that way, so using the Saver does not take extra time. The Produce Saver is available in three different sizes to fit a variety of produce and space needs.
I may have missed National Salad Month, but with the Produce Saver I’m not missing my chance to have great salads whenever I want them.
