After arriving at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on a beautiful Saturday morning, you stroll over to Toy Story Mania, an interactive, arcade-style ride based on the hit movies, only to find a 90 minute wait. Luckily, every park guest has access to Disney’s FASTPASS service. By using FASTPASS, you can avoid hours wasted in hot, slow-moving lines and spend your vacation time enjoying more rides, character meet-and-greets, and shopping in the parks!

Disney’s FASTPASS is available to every park guest at Disneyland and Walt Disney World as part of their admisssion. Unlike the programs at most amusement parks, FASTPASS does not cost any additional money. All you need to obtain a FASTPASS ticket is your park ticket or, if you are staying at a Disney resort, your Key to the World card. With FASTPASS, you can reserve a space in line at major rides, such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Expedition Everest, and enjoy the rest of the park until your ticket window arrives.

Using Disney’s FASTPASS system is easy. First, find the FASTPASS distrubution machine near the ride you want to enjoy. Above the ticket machine, you will see a return time for FASTPASS tickets at that moment. Your return time will be an hour window starting at that time. If you’re happy returning during that time period, insert a park ticket or Key to the World into the destribution machine for each member of your part that wants to ride. Later, return during the time on your ticket and enjoy your ride!

Some helpful hints to remember about using FASTPASS:

  • You can have more than one FASTPASS at a time. At the bottom of your first FASTPASS ticket will be printed the next time you can obtain a new FASTPASS. Usually, this time is after the beginning of your one-hour window or two hours after you got your first FASTPASS, which ever is earliest.
  • You can save time backtracking across the park by sending one person with all of your tickets to retrieve a FASTPASS for your whole party. Mom can run off to get FASTPASS tickets for Splash Mountain while Dad gets nauseated with the kids on the Mad Tea Party teacups!
  • Not all rides have a FASTPASS option. You can find out which rides do by looking at a park map or Times Guide that are available in every park.

With Disney’s FASTPASS, you can enjoy a calm, leisurely vacation without missing your favorite rides, even during the busiest times of the year.
