Ideas for Spring Break at Home

Somehow, some way, spring break will be here in just a matter of weeks. Can you believe it? My kids can because they won’t stop talking about it, ha!

Though we usually take a family vacation every spring break, we have chosen to stay home this time to save a bit of cash. So, since we will be home this break, I’ve been thinking about what we should do to have some fun at home. I’ve come up with a few ideas – I hope you like them!

Movie night. Pop up some buttery popcorn (maybe add some chocolate candies, too), throw a family-friendly DVD into the TV, and have some family time “at the movies” from your own couch. My kids love movie nights at home!

Board games. Board games never go out of style and they provide a great opportunity to sit around the table and bond with your kiddos. Whether your family prefers the classics or a new game that no one else knows about, there is always fun for everyone involved.

Living room fort. Take a day to transform the living room into a gigantic fort by using blankets, sheets, and pillows draped over couches, chairs and tables. Place a tablet inside for watching movies and playing games. You may be surprised how much time your kids spend inside the fort!

Outdoor obstacle course. If spring has truly sprung, then the weather should be plenty warm enough to head out to the front or backyard for some fun! Grab a jump rope, orange cones, water hose or appropriate outdoor furniture to create an obstacle course that the kids can run and jump through.

Pizza break. Let’s face it – the kids won’t want to be hanging out with us the entire spring break and we may need a little personal break ourselves from time to time, too. When the kids are getting a little screen time or just playing in the next room, take a bit of time for yourself with a Dr. Oetker Ristorante Pizza. It is a great way to wind down and treat yourself at the same time.

These sophisticated pizzas will make you feel like you’re spoiling yourself, with unique and fresh flavors like Mozzarella (but if that doesn’t pique your interest, there are eight additional flavors available!) I love the thin, crispy crust and the convenience of just popping it out of my freezer and into the oven. I find that I can usually have it on the table within 15 minutes of opening the box!

Find these tasty pizzas at your local supermarket, too! If they don’t currently sell Ristorante, you can put in a request with the store manager! To find out more and receive updates on all things Ristorante, check out Dr. Oetker USA’s Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!
