Interview With A Blogger: Gina, Pink Wings
Happy Sunday, friends! Today’s Interview With A Blogger takes us over to Pink Wings, where Gina, a military spouse whose husband is a pilot, shares delicious recipes and a whole lotta style! Keep reading to learn more!
So, what prompted you to start blogging?
Originally I started with a food blog. When we got married, my husband was a much better cook than I was. I was blown away on our first Valentine’s day when he made me filet mignon, lobster risotto, asparagus, and creme brulee. So when we finished college and moved to the middle of nowhere for his pilot training, I decided I would take the time to learn my way around the kitchen. Having a food blog gave me the motivation to be constantly improving. Then about a year ago I started a style blog, but I finally decided to stop dividing my time between the two and combined them into one.
Tell us about your day job/educational pursuits?
These days I’m all about growing domestically. I love to sign up for random classes when given the chance, such as cooking or gardening. I’m always looking for online photography classes as well, and of course am constantly looking to improve on my kitchen skills.
Where’s the farthest from home you’ve ever travelled? Tell us about your experience.
Being half Korean, I’ve spent a lot of time back and forth between there and the States. So when I got the chance to go to Peru I was excited for an experience that was completely foreign to me. I ate guinea pig, went sand-boarding at an oasis in the desert, and met a lot of amazing people who I even now contact with on FB. My absolute favorite part was visiting Machu Pichu, which I always tell my husband is by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to in my life. I’d go back in a second.
What skill do you hope to master over the next year?
I have many small goals. I actually have a bag of Because I Said I Would cards filled out, and I plan on completing them all by the end of the year. They are mostly simple things such as read a personal finance book or sew makeup bags. But there are some goofy ones in there like making cat costumes. The one that I’m most excited for is running the San Francisco Nike Half Marathon. At the finish line you get a Tiffany’s necklace 🙂
What’s your current favourite song/band? And what are you reading?
I’m the kind of person who can listen to the same songs for years without getting sick of them. Lately my most-played song is probably Such Great Heights by The Postal Service. And before I moved, my book club read Heaven is Here by Stephanie Nielson.
