Interview With A Blogger: Kim Corrigan-Oliver, Mothering With Mindfulness
Today I’m sharing my interview with one of the first blogging mamas I ever connected with, back when my daughter was tiny and I was looking to meet other new mothers the area. She’s been a wonderful friend, a fantastic resource for all things health and wellness, and a calm, patient mothering role model. I’m so excited to have her on the blog with us today! Take a peek below and get to know Kim Corrigan-Oliver of Mothering With Mindfulness!
So, what prompted you to start blogging?
Originally I began blogging for my nutrition business. That blog was a place to share information about feeding your baby and toddler, as well as recipes for the whole family. I felt the urge to share a little bit about my mothering journey and decided to start a second blog, Mothering with Mindfulness. It was in this space that I found connection to like minded mothers, I found a place to share and I found friendship, something I never expected to find.
Tell us about your day job/educational pursuits?
I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom to one little man. I am a life learner, which means I am always learning and growing. Right now my interests have taken me on a path of learning more about wild foods and medicinal herbs, and deepening my connection to nature.
Where’s the farthest from home you’ve ever travelled? Tell us about your experience.
Hmmm…England. I have traveled there quite a few times to visit family. My dad grew up in England and his entire family is still there. My most recent visit was five years ago. I took my little man, then 6 months, to meet his great grandfather, aunts, uncles, and cousins. My dad came with us, which made the trip very special. I have a special place in my heart for England, there is so much history and beauty. Plans are underway for another trip, hopefully within the next year.
What skill do you hope to master over the next year?
I hope to improve my identification skills when it comes to identifying wild plants. Right now I am tied to my field guide, but I hope one day to feel more confident with this skill.
I would also like to improve my bird song identification. It is getting better, but definitely needs more practice.
And I am always working towards a deeper connection to the earth.
What’s your current favorite song/band? And what are you reading?
In our home right now we are listening to Woodlandy Dandies, an Ontario based group that made a CD of nature related children’s music. It is one of those CDs the whole family loves.
Currently reading You’re Not the Boss of Me: Understanding the Six/Seven Year Old Transformation.
