Interview With A Blogger: Laura Tremaine, The Hollywood Housewife
Hello and happy Sunday! I have to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has been so pumped about our Interview With A Blogger series! Your comments, messages, and emails have warmed my heart and I’m thrilled that you’re all enjoying these posts so much!
Today I’m psyched to share my interview with The Hollywood Housewife, Laura Tremaine — a gal who was actually listed as as a favorite by several previous interviewees! You’ve got to love it when things come full circle like this, right? I hope you’ll all have fun learning a little more about this awesome mama and her life in California. Enjoy!
So, what prompted you to start blogging?
I read a lot of blogs before I started one myself. I’d always wanted to be a writer, and as a newlywed unsure about my next career move, the instant gratification of writing on the internet was too hard to resist.
Tell us about your day job/educational pursuits?
During the day I raise my kids, run my family, and blog. Currently those things are pretty all-consuming. For a long time I worked behind the scenes in reality television, but these days I leave the producing to my husband.
Where’s the farthest from home you’ve ever traveled? Tell us about your experience.
In 2012 I traveled to Sri Lanka with World Vision to see the work being done there in the wake of years of devastation. It was my first trip to a third-world country and it was eye-opening. Later this spring I’ll be taking another humanitarian trip to one corner of the world, then flinging myself towards a different area of the globe on a dream vacation. All of these things have come through blogging and the relationships I’ve built on the internet. Starting a personal blog has been utterly life-changing.
What skill do you hope to master over the next year?
I just started taking yoga a bit more seriously. I would love to continue in that practice, though yoga isn’t something you can master. In terms of my blog, I really want to sit down and learn more about making video. Being in LA, I have endless resources for this, but so far I’ve been too shy to take advantage of them.
What’s your current favorite song/band? And what are you reading?
Oh, gosh. I’m going to skip the music part. It’s not very cool to say, but I’m not much of a music girl. The speakers in my car generally blast talk radio, podcasts, and Disney’s Frozen soundtrack.
But I’m always reading. Right now I’m heavily re-obsessed with Stephen King. He was a favorite when I was young, but recently reading 11/22/63 and Doctor Sleep have reminded me how much I admire him as a writer.
Share three blogs you adore!
I read a LOT of blogs. It would be so hard to name just three. But off the top of my head:
