Interview With A Blogger: Tiffany Cruz, Fabulous Mom Blog

Welcome, Tiffany!

So, what prompted you to start blogging?

I’ve always kept a journal, as far back as I can remember I’ve written down my daily activities and I look back at those journals and it’s easy to see why I easily fell in love with blogging. I started blogging back in 2007 shortly after my daughter was born. A few months after Jasmine was born I started an Etsy shop to sell all the baby headbands and bows I was making. Bloggers started approaching me to send them samples of my work in exchange for a blog post feature. I had not read a blog before being approached by bloggers. I was intrigued by blogs and knew I had to start one for my Etsy shop, and so I did.

That very first blog was lost when I accidentally let my domain expire. But that didn’t bother me too much. I knew I wanted to close down my Etsy shop and dive head first into blogging full-time.

Many years of hard work, and another child later. I’m a full-time blogger, and I love it.

Tell us about your day job/educational pursuits?

I’m a full-time work at home mom. My kids keep me very busy, but I do manage to find time to blog. Blogging is a passion of mine that I haven’t felt for anything else. I’m able to make a pretty good income blogging and it’s nice to be able to work from home.

In the long run I would like to go back to school to get a degree in Journalism and maybe take a photography class.

Where’s the farthest from home you’ve ever travelled? Tell us about your experience.

As a child growing up in a military household we were always moving. The first 12 years of my life were spent in California and Hawaii. In 1992 my dad and mom packed us up and we went cross-country, all the way to Virginia. I stayed in VA until I got married and decided on a whim to start my life with my husband far from home, in Louisiana.

If I were to tell you the farthest I’ve traveled from where I currently live, I’d have to say Pennsylvania. The trip to Pennsylvania for my cousin’s wedding was the first time my husband and I went on a trip without the children. It was a nice few days, the wedding was amazing and it was nice to see family and to travel alone, without children.

What skill do you hope to master over the next year?

Over the next year I’d like to work on becoming a better writer, and photographer. I want to put my iPhone down and pick up my DSLR more. I want to learn how to use my DSLR in manual mode. My all around goal is just to keep improving my blog.

What’s your current favorite song/band? And what are you reading?

I’ve been on a F. Scott Fitzgerald kick lately. I recently finished up The Great Gatsby and I’m currently reading The Beautiful and Damned.

I listen to all sorts of music. In my late teens and early 20s I went to concerts, mostly metal, punk, and alternative. These days I listen to a lot of modern country music. I still have 3 favorite bands, The Beatles, 311, and Sublime.

Share three blogs you adore!

I find so much inspiration from all over the interwebs, but there are three blogs that I adore more than you’ll ever know.
