Is it Back to School for You, Too?
This post is sponsored by Capella University; however, all opinions are my own.
For me, one of the great things about having kids is being able to reconnect with the cycle of life that the school year creates. Obviously, as an adult some things go on as usual, no matter what time of year, but the school year holds a really primal place in my mind.
In the fall I like to take advantage of the start of a new school year, not just to buy fresh notebooks and new clothes, but to take stock of my life. Where am I compared to where I want to be? What are my goals and my ambitions? How am I doing on my New Year’s resolutions? How can I make sure that I’m living out my dreams and being the most I can be, while also taking care of my kids?
I think as kids get older it’s really important that they see parents as having their own goals and see their parents working towards those goals. For a lot of parents those goals involve going back to school for either an undergraduate or a graduate degree.
If that’s one of your goals, you should know that there are so many different ways to attend college today. I found this mom’s (Tarishia*) story about getting her degree really inspiring. In the video Tarishia talks about how hard it is, especially as a working mother, to find the “right time” to go back to school. She feels that Capella University’s FlexPath online learning format allowed her to really fit school around her life, instead of the other way around. I love how at the end she says that she didn’t “go back” to school, she “found my way forward.” I get chills at that line. Watch it, you’ll see:
She really speaks to the obstacles that get in the way of so many mothers. With FlexPath from Capella University, you don’t have to put your family or your current career on hold. FlexPath’s uniquely self-paced, online format allows you to move and learn at your own pace. There’s flexibility to set your own deadlines, giving you control of your online education.
FlexPath has an all-you-can-learn tuition structure, where you have no limit to the number of courses you can complete for one flat fee, each 12-week session. For example, with FlexPath you can earn your MBA in just 9 months for under $7,500.
If Capella’s FlexPath program sounds like a great resource for you and your graduate or undergraduate degree programs, get your free FlexPath guide for all the details and more success stories from parents who were finally able to achieve their degree because of FlexPath.

**Program length and cost depends on the number of courses completed per 12-week session and the number of sessions at $2,400. Data based on MBA FlexPath graduates through June 2016.
