PLANES FIRE & RESCUE: Piston Peak National Park Tour

PLANES FIRE & RESCUE: Piston Peak

During my visit to Los Angeles a few weeks ago, I not only had the opportunity to attend a press junket for Disney’s MALEFICENT, but also PLANES FIRE & RESCUE, which is NOW IN THEATERS!

A new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper, heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

During the press junket, our group separated into four different “pods”, with each pod participating in a specific interview or activity. Today I’m chatting about our Piston Peak National Park Tour!

As I mentioned a few weeks back, the folks at Disneytoon Studios were able to get up-close and personal with real aerial firefighters, smoke jumpers, stunt pilots, air traffic controllers and even went inside planes and helicopters to make the world of Piston Peak a believable world. The research didn’t stop there, either, the team also visited Yosemite National Park and Yellowstone National Park in order to create a real-like park for the movie – Piston Peak.

Like most national parks, Piston Peak includes bridges, cliffs, a multitude of trees, geysers and canyons. The park is quite extensive, as you can see from the map above, with a name for each location. As you watch PLANES FIRE & RESCUE, you may notice little touches throughout, too – pay close attention to the flowers and trees. That is all I will say. 😉

PLANES FIRE & RESCUE is in theaters NOW, so make sure you check it out with your family!
