Royal Baby Watch Is In Full Swing!

Royal Baby Watch has the world on the edge of their seats!

While an actual estimated due date is not known, Kate Middleton mentioned at one time that her baby would arrive “mid-July”, so the fact that photographers and television crews have been waiting and ready outside the Lindo Wing or St. Mary’s hospital in London is no surprise. For the last week, media folks have been biding their time outside the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge is set to welcome her baby. This is the same hospital where her husband, Prince William, was born to Princess Diana on June 21, 1982.

The Duke and Duchess are also expected to introduce their little one to the world as they exit the hospital — a photo opp that press from around the world are gathering with hopes to capture. Photogs have even begun to tape off their spots on the sidewalk!

When baby is born, he or she will hold the title of “His/Her Royal Highness Prince/Princess [insert first name here] of Cambridge”. Quite a mouthful for the tiny tot, but I expect he or she will have no probably growing into it!

To celebrate the birth date of the already-famous babe, The Royal Mint has created 2,013 coins which will be offered to babies born on the royal birthday. The coins, which feature a shield of the Royal Arms, will be sent out in blue or pink bags. Folklore says giving an infant a silver penny ensures a healthy, wealthy life.

So how will we know when Kate has welcomed her little bundle? When William was born, an easel was placed at the gates of Buckingham Palace, announcing his arrival — a tradition which will be continued when he and Kate’s baby arrives. About an hour from where I live, Toronto, Ontario’s CN Tower will light up either pink or blue to announce the arrival of the royal babe. Too cute!

Until then, Royal Baby Watch continues!

Are you excited about the arrival of Kate and William’s baby?
