Silk Nog Holiday Latte
The holiday season is all about traditions. Old traditions passed down from generation to generation, and new traditions that you get to create with your family and friends, bringing you closer together and helping you to celebrate the spirit of the season.
Each year, as I begin to decorate for the holidays, adding decorations to the mantle that came from loved ones, and hanging up ornaments carefully crafted by my kids over the years, I start to feel nostalgic for all of the holiday traditions we’ve enjoyed over the years. I’ll be so glad once a few white flakes start to fall — then it will really start to feel like the holidays are on their way!
I think we all have special little traditions that we keep in mind at this time of year. Whether these are grand traditions like a mid-winter vacation south, or inviting the whole family for dinner, or much smaller, yet just as important, mini-traditions, like the treats you bake or the warm and cozy beverages you enjoy by the fireside with friends.
Sometimes I think it’s the tiny traditions that have the most impact on your heart and soul during the holidays. I love seeing my kids decorating our tree and cutting out intricate snowflakes from folded pieces of printer paper and I get just as excited about things like seeing eggnog showing up at the grocery store. These little moments bring the holidays to life in my mind — especially when we’re all still waiting for the snow.
Speaking of eggnog, one of my favorite things to do during the holidays is to make my own eggnog lattes. As much as I love the ones you can get when you’re out at a cafe, there’s something even more special about being able to make your own at home. This year, I have some serious good news for our dairy-free and vegan friends who might be missing the taste of eggnog during the holidays! Our friends at Silk have introduced a delicious line of Dairy-Free Holiday Nogs which are sure to become the newest tradition in your home! In addition to their Silk Soy Nog Original, they’ve now added Silk Almond Nog Pumpkin Spice and Silk Almond Nog Original to their offerings — and they’re so tasty!
All you have to do is steam or heat your nog of choice (I’m loving the Silk Almond Nog Pumpkin Spice!), froth if you have a little hand-frother, add in your shot of espresso and sprinkle a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg on top!
You can also just add some nog to your coffee if you’d just like to have a little hint of holiday flavor with your morning brew! You’ll also be happy to know that Silk Holiday Nogs have 80 calories or less per serving, making them the perfect choice for celebrating the season!
If you’re on the hunt for even more special holiday recipes and traditions, be sure to visit silk.com where you can learn more about their brand new Silk Dairy-Free Holiday Nogs!
