I am all about celebrating each season as it comes upon us, and fall is no different.  When we moved here, 3 years ago, we started a tradition of going to our local apple orchard and picking apples. This is something my children and I look forward to every year.  Our local orchard is run by a husband and wife, their 2 boys and dog.  They also have a big swing set play place for the kids, a cider press, and a pumpkin patch where

Story Time Extension: Make Reading Fun!!

guest post by Wendy I love reading to my children. We find ourselves cuddled up in the chair reading books several times a day. If you have a favorite title, a great way to extend that book is to create an activity based on something that happened in the story. Lani and her child care friends love to take the felt out and will play for quite a long time with it. I am amazed at the

Shiny Paint

PAINT

Sometimes using plain old paint with the kids can get boring. If you want to add a little shine to your child’s artwork then grab the corn syrup out of your cabinet. Add some to your paint and mix it up well. Then paint away! Finally when the paint is dry, you can enjoy the shine. It’s hard to capture it in a photo, but the paint will be smooth and shiny once dry. Come on over and read more about Wendy over at Wesnlani

Ok, so I know I usually write about food. And more food. And still more food. But I realize there is a little more to life than food. Something else I am very passionate about is literature. And sharing that love with my children. We try to read together almost every day. Sometimes one book, sometimes ten. And I try to find children’s literature that both my children AND I (or my husband) can enjoy together. Something that won’t make mommy and daddy want to
