The Perfect Beginning to a New Blog
This post was inspired and sponsored by Domain.ME, the provider of the personal domains that end in .ME. As a company, they aim to promote thought leadership to the tech world. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I wrote my first blog post in 2008. On one hand, it seems impossible that 2008 was eight years ago, but when I think about how much blogging, in general and my own blogging has changed, it almost seems like a lifetime.
The first time I was paid to blog, I made $15! Now with social media, blogging, and related tasks, I make a full-time living doing it. I’ve even started helping others start and make a living from their own blogs.
Over the years, I’ve written a lot of recipes and family tips, and I’ve written quite a bit about writing and blogging. The one piece of advice that I always come back to, no matter the subject, is that you MUST be yourself.
I feel this way not only when it comes to blogging, but about life in general, especially about parenting. I’ve read a lot of articles over the years that insist there’s ONE way to get kids to eat vegetables, clean their room, or do their homework, but I don’t buy it. There’s always more than one way because we’re all different.
I’m lucky enough to travel all over the world and when I see how different things are in various parts of the world, I know even more that we are all individuals, and that we have to commit to our individuality happily.
Speaking of individuality, many new bloggers I know are using .ME domain names to find the best names for their blogs. Domain.ME is a top-level domain name provider that allows anyone (personal and/or business) to create a unique, safe identity online with a domain ending in .ME.
It’s such a cute idea to make ME part of your blog identity, and such a great way to get started on your site branding. I could see a blog focused on fashion being Polka.ME (get it polka dot me, tee hee). A cocktail blog could be Pouranotherfor.ME, and of course if your name ends in “me” it’s even more perfect (hey, wait a minute, as an Amy should I consider changing my blog name?).
When I started this blog eight years ago, I didn’t know exactly where I would go with it. That was okay.
Perhaps YOU have a great idea and it’s perfectly planned out, or maybe you just want to explore a little with a new venture. One great way to get started on either path is to go claim your perfect domain name at Domain.ME. 🙂
Just for fun, share some great ideas for domain names ending in ME in the comments!
