Think of Wendy’s for Fresh Salads!
The other day I ran into two women who were clearly in town on a sales call (trust me, I can tell). They had looked up a restaurant location and had somehow been directed to an old spot that’s no longer open. I asked them what kind of food they wanted and when they just simply said “a salad,” and I replied with a suggestion that surprised them.
“Have you thought about going to Wendy’s?”
It’s true! Last week I was invited to my local Wendy’s with a girlfriend of mine for the chance to taste the new Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Salad and Sandwich. They were both delicious! I know not everyone things of Wendy’s as a place grab a salad, but really, you should!
Every day, Wendy’s hand chops whole heads of romaine lettuce and washes fresh seasonal produce, all in the restaurant, not somewhere else. You can really taste that dedication to quality ingredients, too.
I’m a sucker for fresh mozzarella, and this is the first time Wendy’s has used fresh mozzarella on its menu. Actually, Wendy’s is the first national fast food restaurant to do it. They’re expecting to use about 1.47 million pounds of it nationwide while these two options are available.
Wendy’s Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Salad starts with Wendy’s signature lettuce blend of spring mix and hand-chopped iceberg and romaine lettuce. The salad is topped with a freshly grilled, all-white meat chicken breast, fresh mozzarella cheese, juicy grape tomatoes, a drizzle of a creamy basil pesto sauce, crunchy French bread croutons and finished with Marzetti® Simply Dressed® Light Balsamic Vinaigrette. The salad will be available for a limited time and priced at $6.49 for the full-size salad and $4.49 for the half-size salad.
Typically, if you’re eating a salad you will want the nutrition facts. Offering a full days’ worth of vegetables, the Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Salad delivers 41 grams of protein with only 510 calories for a full-size salad and 24 grams of protein with only 350 calories for the half-size portion.
Now, not everyone in my family is going to go for a salad at dinner time and honestly, neither am I some days. The Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich also has premium all-white meat grilled chicken breast, fresh mozzarella cheese, house-made balsamic diced tomatoes and a drizzle of creamy basil pesto, topped with spring mix on a garlic brioche bun. This sandwich is still a great choice since Wendy’s Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich delivers 41 grams of protein with only 420 calories and will be available for a limited time and priced at $5.29.
I don’t know if those two sales reps took my advice or not, but I hope so. I was super impressed with Wendy’s new offerings and I think you will be, too!
