Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

During the #MonkeyKingdomEvent in Orlando last week, I had the opportunity to sit down with Greg Peccie, DAKL Animal Operations Manager, to chat about the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World.

Step into the heart of Africa at this magnificent Resort hotel. Inspired by the traditional African kraal, the horseshoe-curved design provides spectacular views of 4 lush savannas that over 200 hoofed animals and birds call home. Delight in dazzling pool areas, exciting animal programs and one of the largest collections of African art in the United States as you experience your own African safari adventure with a touch of Disney magic.

I have always been fascinated with this lodge from afar, but had never visited before. Even though I knew that wild animals roam the savannah right outside of the resort, which is why the Animal Kingdom Lodge is so unique, I didn’t really believe it until I witnessed it with my own eyes. I stepped outside and immediately saw a zebra eating grass. You know, normal day.

Guests of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas can also enjoy the Wanyama Safari and Dinner for up-close animal encounters followed by a delectable, multi-course feast (stay tuned for my review of the Sanaa Restaurant at the resort, t00). The Animal Kingdom Lodge would make the perfect family stay for your next Walt Disney World trip, especially for the animal lovers in your kin.
