Winter Maple Oatmeal Almond Smoothie

When the weather gets crisp outside, we tend to gravitate towards warmer foods and drinks, but does it necessarily have to be that way?

Sure, I love a nice hot cocoa by the fire, but nothing is going to stop me from enjoying a cold beverage in the winter, too!

One drink that I especially love during the summertime is a refreshing smoothie. This got me to thinking about ways to “winterize” a smoothie this time of year. You know, a way to warm up the flavors, if you will.

For this winter smoothie, I wanted to leave out fruit and just stick to hearty ingredients like oatmeal, maple syrup and almonds. These ingredients definitely say wintertime to me!

And it tastes delicious. It’s light, slightly sweet and very comforting. Here is how you make it.
