Wire Bin Storage Table
I go through crafting phases and I was very recently on a HUGE crochet kick. The phase eventually tapered off as I was having a hard time keeping up with the yarn for each project. When I couldn’t find the appropriate yarn I’d stash that work in progress to bring out one that I COULD find the yarn for. It was so frustrating and right now I have a good 4-5 crochet projects in the works and needing to be finished!
When I saw a pretty trash can at the store made of wire mesh I thought it would be the perfect way to keep up with my yarn. Bad thing was they wanted $80. Um, no. So when I found something similar, albeit smaller, at the craft store for only $20 I went ahead and got it. Now I knew that this wouldn’t be tall enough for a proper table but I decided I liked the price enough to cross that bridge when I came to it!
For this project you will need:
Now I’m staining A TON of stuff so I am trying to figure out which stains I like the best. Mind you different shades will do different things on the type of wood you use. For instance, you won’t get the same color if you stain pine and poplar with the exact same shade because they are different colors to begin with.
I’m finding that I like this Special Walnut for a generic “brown” color.
Now my table round I got for around $11 at Lowe’s but I think they are cheaper at Home Depot. Don’t quote me on that, though!
Stain or paint the color you please.
Fill your basket with goodies. This is all of the yarn I need for an upcoming project that I am super stoked about!
Place your dry table top on top of your trash bin and you’re all set!
Well, if everything is tall enough! Mine isn’t quite…
I wound up using some of Rob’s books to make my table the right height. I turned and rotated the books to look like everything was just tossed together, but I made sure that the books could easily support the weight of the table above.
Now I was going to use crochet books but I can’t find any of those. I will unpack one of these days (probably within months of moving again 🙂
My little table is kind of Boho and fun and it keeps all of my yarn RIGHT THERE. Hopefully I won’t have an excuse for hopping from project to project now since I’ll be able to keep my WIP and my yarn all in one place right in the living room!
