A Mom’s Guide to Keeping Kids Entertained Indoors!
This post is sponsored by Nature’s Bakery. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
The day I became a mother, my life was forever changed. A simple day at the park became a scavenger hunt for rocks and pine cones. Playtime in the sandbox became a dinosaur fossil adventure. A trek through the snow led to snow angels – in many ways, my inner child came back to the surface and I had just as much fun as my kids did during our adventures!
The better-for-you snack brand, Nature’s Bakery, found that the majority (56%) of parents believe it’s difficult to find an activity the whole family would be interested in. I know that I can relate to the dreaded, “I’m bored” phrase I hear often in my own home, so I know this is a true issue!

Luckily, Nature’s Bakery launched its “Snack Sized Adventures” microsite that offers tons of ideas for family activities! Snack Sized Adventures are simple and inexpensive tech-free activities that require minimal planning time, so you have maximum fun time. Each activity is built to easily fill in the holes that long winter days can bring and encourages active living, plus get families off screens and couches and out in the world together. All the adventures help to increase family bonding and bridge the gap between every day and amazing, and even include a rating to let you know how messy the activity is which is fantastic!

Below are some activity ideas that I’m particularly excited to try with my kids…
MAKE YOUR HOME A MOVIE SET
“Pick your favorite movie scene and recreate it on your phone. Then, host a ‘world premier’ for the rest of the family.”
FIND A PENPAL

“Find a new friend or learn about another culture with good old fashioned snail mail.” I remember doing this as a kid and I loved being surprised by letters in the mail!
BECOME A BRILLIANT SCIENTIST

“Turn your kitchen into a science lab for the day! Grab some empty bottles, oil, food coloring, and Alka seltzer to make your own lava lamps.”
These are just a few of my favorite adventures, but you can find even more amazing indoor activities for the whole family by visiting the microsite here! Now that you’ve learned about the wide assortment of indoor adventures offered through Nature’s Bakery’s microsite, I want to share more insight on my go-to adventure fuel from the wholesome snack brand.
Better-For-You Snacks to Fuel Your Snack Sized Adventures
Another big change to my pre-mom lifestyle was being more mindful of the food choices I was making for myself and my child. and me.
Eating thoughtfully can be a challenge when each day can be so incredibly busy and unpredictable. Easy-to-grab snacks are a mother’s dream, but they’re not always the highest in quality ingredients. This is why I love Nature’s Bakery’s snacks!
Nature’s Bakery believes that simple, wholesome snacks are the best choice for busy families like mine. A family-owned bakery since 2011, Nature’s Bakery soft bakes the nutritional goodness of real, wholesome ingredients like sun-ripened fruit and hearty whole grains into snacks that are plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, and Non-GMO Project Verified (and I would say mom-verified, too).
Yummy flavors include:
- Peach Apricot Fig Bar
- Strawberry Fig Bar
- Blueberry Fig Bar
- Seasonal Edition Pumpkin Spice Fig Bar
- Chocolate Oat Baked-Ins
- Double Chocolate Brownie
I love the ease of packing these ready-to-eat snacks in a lunchbox, my purse, backpack, and especially when my kids and I are off on a new adventure!
They provide a great source of energy during that afternoon slump that powers me through my busy mom days. I do have a confession, though…I hide the Double Chocolate Brownie box just for me. Shhhhhhh!!!!
