How to Create a Safe Home for Back-to-School with First Alert
Thank you First Alert for sponsoring this post. Know CO!
Well, it’s official now. School is back in session!
With my son starting middle school for the first time this year, we are still in the late planning stages of getting the house in order for the year. I have the calendar hung on the wall, hooks ready to hang backpacks and jackets, breakfast meals already pre-made, and school clothes neatly folded in the drawers.
While it may seem like that most of everything is already handled to tackle the new school year, I have something more important to prepare for, which is the safety of our home. Without a safe, healthy home, the school year will not run as smoothly and certainly not as safe as it should.
I’ve been starting on tasks like replacing old light bulbs and air filters, repairing broken gate brackets, and updating our home security system. Another thing that I don’t want to worry about when preparing for the back-to-school season is the possibility of carbon monoxide being in my home. The thought alone scares me enough to take some action on it.
If you are not familiar with carbon monoxide (CO), let me catch you up on this serious topic. CO is a silent killer because it’s an invisible, odorless, but deadly gas that is produced by any fuel-burning device. The only way to protect yourself from CO is to install a CO alarm in your home, so it is essential that you do!
So, in addition to our back-to-school preparations and planning, I am implementing a First Alert Tabletop CO Alarm in my home as well. With no installation needed (but with the option to mount on the wall if I’d like to), this CO alarm has a built-in 10-year battery for 10 years of protection so I don’t need to change out the batteries every few weeks. What a super simple and convenient way to protect my family from CO!
It’s also quite stylish, too, with its LED Temperature Display and all, and it fits in perfectly with my home decor.
If my First Alert Tabletop CO Alarm detects dangerous levels of CO in my home, it will let me know. Now I have the peace of mind that my home is safe when we sleep at night. Because trust me, we need that beauty sleep BIG TIME for those long school days and after-school homework hours!
Here’s to a happy and safe school year!
