How to Create Your Kid’s Dream Library
This post is sponsored by Disney, but all ideas are my own.
For many of us, it’s pretty easy to guess our favorite Disney Princess.
Smart, brave, independent, beautiful, loves a good croissant and loves to read…yep, I’m team Belle all the way! I mean, there is lots to admire in all the princesses, but Belle and her bookworm habits have always had my heart. I think anyone who loves to read knows what it’s like to get lost in a book.
I was really excited about the new live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. One of the scenes I LOVED in the previews is when Belle discovers the castle’s library. I’ve always had my idea of a dream library, it’s a little like Belle’s but possibly more accessible.
Unless you live in a castle or a really, really big house, it’s unlikely that you have an entire room to use as a library. That means you have to be a little more creative about where you place books.
When you live with kids, you want to make sure books are easy to find, out of the way of danger, and displayed in an approachable and fun way.
When I was single, I liked to keep my books in alphabetical order, because I’m weird like that. But, that’s not a great plan for kids’ books. Kids’ books need to be kept according to kid order. That may be by subject, or it may be by size, or even by “my favorite ones are here” order. Working with your child to come up with a good library system will help ensure that he or she keeps the books in order.
One of the books I can’t wait to add to my collection is Jennifer Donnelly’s Lost in a Book, a new spinoff novel that expands on the world of Beauty and the Beast where our favorite bookworm gets lost within the pages of a book she finds in the castle’s library.
About Lost in a Book
“Smart, bookish Belle, a captive in the Beast’s castle, has become accustomed to her new home and has befriended its inhabitants. When she comes upon Nevermore, an enchanted book unlike anything else she has seen in the castle, Belle finds herself pulled into its pages and transported to a world of glamour and intrigue. The adventures Belle has always imagined, the dreams she was forced to give up when she became a prisoner, seem within reach again.
The charming and mysterious characters Belle meets within the pages of Nevermore offer her glamorous conversation, a life of dazzling Parisian luxury, and even a reunion she never thought possible. Here Belle can have everything she ever wished for. But what about her friends in the Beast’s castle? Can Belle trust her new companions inside the pages of Nevermore? Is Nevermore‘s world even real? Belle must uncover the truth about the book before she loses herself in it forever.”
Donnelly is an award-winning, best-selling author of books for young adults and adults. In Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book, Belle comes across an enchanted book called Nevermore. Belle has to discover if Nevermore is just a story or something else altogether.
I can’t wait to learn more about the world that Belle gets lost in! And for those who can’t get enough of Belle and her books, you can also check out another new Disney release: Belle’s Library, which is beautiful compilation journal of some of Belle’s favorite book quotes!
