Tom’s of Maine Green Your School Fund Supports Your School
The school year is almost over (or already over) in some parts of the country. But, the teachers I know don’t stop working over the summer. This season is their time to do a little relaxing, but also to start planning for the next school year.
Tom’s of Maine has a new program to help make some of those summer planning dreams a reality. Let me explain.
My favorite projects at my kids’ schools are those that combine more than one subject. For example, a math lesson that uses a subject in the news to teach about statistics or probability, or an art lesson that uses recycled items and touches on the importance of recycling. The Green School Fund from Tom’s of Maine helps fund these kinds of innovative projects about the environment.
What is the Green Your School Fund?
- For a second year, Tom’s of Maine and DonorsChoose.org have joined forces to give $1 million to support environmental education in classrooms nationwide.
- So far, the Tom’s of Maine Green Your School Fund has reached over 300,000 students, and counting!
- All year, Tom’s of Maine gives 10% of profits back to helping people and the planet, so by choosing Tom’s of Maine products, you’re helping create the $1 million fund to help make schools more sustainable through DonorsChoose.org.
I already love Tom’s of Maine oral and personal care products, but this makes me love them even more. Tom’s of Maine carries high-quality toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, antiperspirant, deodorant, bar soap, lip balm and baby shampoo and lotion products.
This project isn’t unusual for them, either, as they have a “stewardship model” that guides every decision they make to ensure that our ingredients, processing, and packaging meet our rigorous standards for being natural, sustainable, and responsible, and for over 45 years, they’ve invested in hundreds of nonprofit efforts by giving 10% of their profits back to organizations that support people and the planet and by encouraging employees to use 5% (12 days) of paid time to volunteer.
Educators can visit www.GreenSchoolFund.com to submit their creative environmental projects through DonorsChoose.org. Tom’s of Maine will automatically match every donation made to qualifying environmental projects. Once projects are fully funded, supplies are sent straight to the school to make the project a reality.
In addition, if you’re a parent and love this idea, too, you can get involved by sharing the program with teachers, or of course, by visiting DonorsChoose.org and supporting the projects you like best.
What projects will the teachers in your life submit?
This post was sponsored, but all ideas are my own.
