Make boxed cake mix by following the instructions on the box. Using the cake batter, create cake balls using a cake pop maker. Once balls are created, chill cake balls for 1-2 hours.
Once balls are chilled, remove from refrigerator and heat candy melts in a deep bowl using the microwave, one bag at a time. Heat for 25 seconds, stir and continue until the melts are all melted. DO NOT OVERCOOK AS THE MELTS WILL SEIZE UP.
Using a toothpick, create "slits" for each ear section on each cake ball. Dip any color of Skittles into the melted candies (to serve as glue) and insert into the slits. Let dry for a couple of minutes.
Take a lollipop stick and dip the tip of the stick roughly 1/2 inch into the melted candy. Push the lollipop stick into a cake ball, about halfway through. Dip the cake pop into the melted candy coating until it is completely covered, then remove carefully. Try not to re-dip or move your cake pop around in the melted candy. This will result in a very thick, heavy cake pop and you want to avoid that as it may fall off the stick. (if it does fall off the stick, fish it out using a spoon) You may need to use your finger to remove any drips under the cake pop. Once your cake pop is properly dipped, place in your cake pop holder and move to the next! Let all pops fully harden.
Once pops are hardened, remove all pink Skittles and draw two vertical straight lines to create "nostrils" on each using a black writable food pen. Reheat remaining candy melts in the same bowl as before (you can reheat melts several times, so no need to purchase new bags). Using a toothpick, place a tiny bit of melted candy on the back of a pink Skittle (the side with the "S") and glue to the middle of the pig "face" to create the nose. Use the writable black pen to create eyes and mouth (optional)!
