Gluten-Free Skillet Sausage Pasta Recipe

This Gluten-Free Skillet Sausage Pasta Recipe has chicken and apple sausage, peppers, onions, red wine, and you won’t miss the gluten one bit!

Ingredients

  • 12 oz gluten free pasta (I used Barilla Gluten-Free Penne for this recipe)
  • 12 oz chicken & apple sausage (I used Aidells Chicken & Apple Sausage sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 12 oz water
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbssp olive oil

optional:

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (for heat)

Instructions 

  • Cook gluten-free pasta to al dente, then set to the side.
  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat until hot, then add sliced sausage. Cook until slightly browned. Remove from skillet.
  • Add all vegetables to skillet and cook until soft. Add sausage back to skillet, then add wine.
  • Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and water (add red pepper flakes, if desired). Simmer for 10-15 minutes, then add pasta.
  • Top with fresh parmesan cheese and serve!
