Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts
Water chestnuts are wrapped in bacon, slathered with a tasty homemade sauce, and baked in the oven.
We are getting closer to Christmas, and many holiday parties are coming. If you are stumped about what to bring to a party, I have a delicious and simple recipe courtesy of Clawson Live.
Water chestnuts are wrapped in bacon, slathered with a tasty homemade sauce, and baked in the oven. If you prepare the full recipe, please note that it makes a lot, probably about five dozen, so ensure you have many toothpicks handy.
Enjoy!
Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts
Water chestnuts are wrapped in bacon and slathered with a tasty homemade sauce and baked in the oven.
Ingredients
- 3 cans whole water chestnuts drained
- 1 lb. package of bacon
- 1/2 c. ketchup
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- squirt of mustard
- 1 t. Worcestershire sauce
- vinegar splash
- toothpicks
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375-f degrees. Spray a large baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
- Cut the bacon into thirds. If you have a sharp knife, just slice through the packaging. Wrap each piece of cut bacon around a water chestnut and secure with a toothpick. Put in prepared baking dish. Continue until all the water chestnuts are wrapped in bacon and are in your baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine the remaining sauce ingredients and stir well. Pour over the bacon wrapped water chestnuts.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes. Ovens vary so check them at 30 minutes to be safe. Mine required 45 minutes of baking for the bacon to be cooked through.

Mmmmmm, bacon makes everything better:-)
Agreed!
Ok, anything with bacon is a-ok with me…. water chestnuts? Yum! Imagining the crunchy texture. Such an easy recipe too. These would be great for family get-togethers.
Don’t forget to soak the toothpicks in water for 30 minutes before wrapping the water chestnuts! You don’t want these babies to burn in the oven.
