Kid Craft: Valentine Monster Pencil Toppers [free printable]
I was lucky in that I was able to have a crafty life as a kid. My mother was always working up a project for my sister and I to take part in from tie-dye to homemade Valentine cards to pass out. There was glitter and glue and yarn and chalk and lots of fun to be had in our home that encouraged art and creativity.
My sister and I especially liked to make pencil toppers out of pom-poms and googly eyes. I mean, what can be more fun when you’re a kid than a pencil topper that makes that fun rattle sound and wiggles all over the place?
So I took one of my favorite crafty projects as a kid and turned it into a Valentine!
For this project you will need:
Glue eyes however you please onto the pompoms. You can have one big eye, two regular eyes, a whole dozen of tiny eyes, whatever you feel like!
Add a healthy dollop of hot glue to the end of the eraser and set your pom pom on top. Hold until the glue has set.
Cut out your free printables and slice along the line above and below the quote. Slide the pencil through.
Be sure to write who the cards are to and from!
With all of your supplies being very inexpensive, you can make enough for an entire classroom for around $6-7! And your child can custom make each monster for each student!
With younger kids, you may want to pre-glue the pom poms onto the pencils. School glue will work well enough to attach the eyes to the poms.
These guys are fun, cute and a great little pencil to knock out that math homework!
