On October 4, 2011, Simba, Mufasa, Nala, Timon and Pumbaa returned in the Disney release of  THE LION KING: Diamond Edition on Blu-ray 3D & Blu-ray Hi-Def Combo Pack after the theatrical two-week Digital 3D release. “The Lion King” is the best-selling home entertainment release of all time and this Blu-ray release enhances the already beautiful animation to a new level.

My son (11 years) and I were fortunate enough to catch “The Lion King” 3D in theaters a few weeks ago.  The last time we had viewed “The Lion King” was YEARS ago when my son was a toddler, so it felt like we were seeing it for the first time. I was worried that the 3D element would be too flashy (or give me a headache, like some do), but this wasn’t the case at all and in fact, the 3D enhanced the depth in the animation.  The story, characters, and score in “The Lion King” were still relevant and current, even for my 11 year-old boy.  The tears still flowed, like they did the first time I watched it.

We also received a copy of the Diamond Edition on Blu-ray, so I played it for my 3 year-old who missed out in the theater.  He was mesmerized by the movie, mostly with the score.  Some parts were a little intense for his age, but mommy was nearby to cover his eyes during those scenes. 🙂

“The Lion King” is a classic that every Disney library should have, so pick up a copy today on Amazon.com.  Also, check out some fun activities below!
