Put on Your Red Nose with Walgreens
With so much going on in the world today, it can be overwhelming knowing how to help. Sometimes it seems like the more research we do on issues like child poverty or abuse, the harder it hurts, and that sadness can lead to inaction.
That’s what I love about Walgreens’ Red Nose Day campaign. It is light and joyful, yet creates a huge impact on children who need help most. Starting now, the red noses will return to Walgreens and Duane Reade locations, kicking off a six-week campaign leading up to Red Nose Day on May 25.
From now until June 3rd, you can get your red nose online or at any Walgreens store. For every Red Nose sold between April 17, 2017 and June 3, 2017, Walgreens will donate $0.50 to the Comic Relief Inc.’s Red Nose Day Fund, which helps lift children out of poverty in the U.S. and internationally.
Charity organizations supported by the Red Nose Day Fund include Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity:water; Children’s Health Fund; Feeding America; Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance; National Council of La Raza; Save the Children; and The Global Fund.
The highlight of Red Nose Day’s six-week campaign happens on May 25 at 8 p.m. when NBC airs the Red Nose Day Special, a special night of programming to benefit the charity.
Before then, Walgreens invites Americans to put their “noses on” on social media with weekly #RedNose challenges. Starting now, people can share photos wearing red noses, using #RedNose, #Walgreens on Twitter or Instagram.
Each week, more than 600 Walgreens store associates across the country will broadcast Facebook Live videos from store locations starring their “Red Nose Captains” participating in activities such as dance competitions and Rock Paper Scissors matches to continue raising awareness and donations for the campaign.
Last Friday’s LIVE event, America’s Got Talent sensation Joe Castillo created incredible sand art in support of Red Nose Day USA to help end child poverty. Take a look at his video here:
Walgreens is also hitting the road to uncover powerful and heartwarming stories about the impact Red Nose Day is having in the U.S., as well as the people that are coming together in support of Red Nose Day. You can follow these stories through Walgreens social media pages, as well as through a series of videos illustrating the commitment, which will be released throughout the duration of the campaign leading up to Red Nose Day.
Who knew that making a difference in the lives of children would be so easy? Let’s make a promise to pick up a red nose during our next stop to Walgreens!
