WHY HAVE KIDS? Twitter Party Thursday, September 13, 2012 8:00-9:00pm ET #WhyHaveKids
One of the most high-profile young feminists in America, Jessica Valenti has taken on the controversial—but necessary—question: Why Have Kids? (Amazon /New Harvest, $23.00 hardcover; $12.99 digital list price). If the statistics confirm that parenting is making Americans unhappy, then Valenti’s question is poised to spark an essential and honest conversation about modern parenthood. Through on-the-ground reporting, new scientific studies, and her own burgeoning motherhood, Valenti offers an in-depth exposé of the world of having (and not having) children. She moves beyond the black and white “mommy wars” over natural parenting, discipline, and work-life balance to explore a more nuanced reality: one filled with ambivalence, joy, guilt, and exhaustion.
Join us at #WhyHaveKids for a Twitter party this Thursday, September 13th from 8:00-9:00 pm ET as we discuss the Why Have Kids? book, parenting issues and more. As usual, we will be giving away fabulous prizes, so make sure you check out the details below and RSVP!

There is nothing more awesome than being able to create another human being. Children are a special blessing

I’ve seen this book everywhere! I can’t wait to have a grown-up conversation about being a parent.

Brilliant topic – There are parents who don’t realize how consistently they complain about being a parent and how negative and mean they are to their kids who are just being kids. Yes – a grown up conversation is needed. Becoming a parent is incredible and blessed experience. And every child deserves parents who are parenting, not absorbed in their careers and ‘me’ time

I’m looking forward to this party! Jessica’s book sounds like a conversation my husband & I have from time to time.
Me: “Why do they have kids if they are so negative all the time?”
Husband: “Heck if I know!”

Sounds fun!
