5 Elderberry Recipes to Boost Up Your Immunity System
Elderberry helps boost your immunity system, so I’ve rounded elderberry recipes, from syrups to gummies, to try at home.
“What is the deal with elderberries lately?” This is the question I asked myself the other day when I was perusing Pinterest and saw “elderberry” pop up my feed.
Also, “what is elderberry?” That is the other question I asked myself. So, I naturally researched it because that is what I do.
First of all, this is what wild elderberry looks like:
And, according to Medical News Today, elderberries are “the fruit of the Sambucus tree. The most common type is the Sambucus nigra.
The tree has clusters of small white or cream elderflowers and bunches of small blue or black elderberries.
Native Americans and European herbalists have long used elderberries for their supposed range of health benefits. These include boosting the immune system to help the body fight off colds, flu, and other respiratory infections.”
IMPORTANT TO KNOW: YOU SHOULD NOT CONSUME RAW ELDERBERRIES. ALWAYS COOK ELDERBERRIES BEFORE EATING. RESEARCH THE SAFETY OF PICKING THE BERRIES AND REMOVING THE BERRIES FROM THE STEMS BEFORE ATTEMPTING.
This time of year, I’m all for boosting my immunities, as I’m sure you are as well, so I’ve rounded up some elderberry recipes that include elderberry juice, dried elderberries, and more, from around the ‘net to try at home.
NOTE: If you’re having trouble finding fresh elderberries locally, I suggest using extracts, syrups, or dried berries on Amazon. The recipes below also offer a slew of suggestions, including how to make your own syrups and tinctures at home. Enjoy!
