Pinterest and Google are packed with DIYs for homemade cleaners, skin care products, and custom oil blends for you to try. But where to start? Today I’m sharing a list of accessories to complement your growing collection of essential oils!

20 Must-Have Essential Oil Accessories

01. Diffusers

One of my favorite ways to use essential oils at home is to diffuse them in one of these ultrasonic diffusers. Be sure to read the directions on the box, as some prefer distilled water to tap water. Try diffusing lemon oil in the morning for increased energy, Thieves blend (from Young Living) to support a healthy immune system, and lavender at night to promote restful sleep.

02. Glass Cleaning Bottles

Many of the household cleaner recipes you’ll want to try out will include lemon, orange, or another citrus oil, which can have a negative reaction with a plastic bottle. Stick with a glass cleaning bottle to stay safe!

03. Glass Roller Bottles

If you’re making your own special blend of oils, one simple way to apply your mixture (to your wrists, neck, behind your ears) is to use a rollerball.

04. Wool Dryer Balls

As a natural alternative to dryer sheets, you can add a few drops of essential oils (I love Purification blend and lemon for this application!) to a couple of wool dryer balls and toss them in with your load. They’ll help with static and give your clothing a mild, fresh scent. (Purification blend is also wonderful on urine and vomit smells — from one mother to another!)

05. Glass Water Bottle

If you’re going to be ingesting your essential oils, again you’ll want to stay away from plastic bottles. A glass water bottle is your best bet! (Only ingest oils labeled as supplements from a company you trust.)

06. Small Jelly Jars

These are the perfect size for holding all your essential oil recipes! Rubs, scrubs, and lotions also look pretty lovely in little glass jars!

07. Vegetable Capsules

Another way to take essential oils internally is to create your own capsules by adding a few drops of different oils to the capsules, then swallowing like you would any pill. You can find lots of ideas for this online, by researching the essential oil company that you trust.

08. Storage Shelf

If you’re anything like me, once you get started with essential oils, there’ll be no end to your collection — you’ll want to try every oil, every blend, and even create your own blends and mixtures. Of course, you’ll need a lovely place to keep your oils at home, so grab up one of these shelves (actually a nail polish shelf!) to stay organized. (Bonus points if you organize by color… or alphabetically!)

09. Travel Case

Since you’re now totally hooked on essential oils, you’ll want to bring them with you on the go. A small case that fits and protects your bottles from cracking is a great option for bringing your oils with you — and for sharing them with others!

10. Coconut Oil

One of my favorite (and most used) carrier oils is coconut oil. I use this to dilute my oils when I use them with my daughter, and for creating essential oils recipes such as the Achy Muscle Rub I made recently!

11. Raw Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax

If you’re going to be making lotions, creams, soaps, deodorants, or lip balms with your oils, you’ll want to pick up some raw shea butter, cocoa butter, and beeswax to get started!

12. Molds

You can make your own soaps, bath bombs, and lotion bars by using these round and bar-shaped molds, and your favorite essential oil recipes! (Try these heart-shaped bath bombs — they’d make a great gift!)

13. Lip Balm Tubes

These simple lip balm tubes are perfect for when you’re making your own lip balm. Make a big batch and give some away to friends and family!

14. Deodorant Containers

I’ve been wanting to try making my own natural deodorant with essential oils for ages. I’ll be ordering these empty deodorant containers very soon!

15. Silicone Measuring Cups & Spoons

Silicone measuring cups and spoons are great for when you’re measuring out different ingredients for your recipes! Plus, these ones collapse so they don’t take up much space.

16. Transfer Pipettes

Moving drops of oils are made much easier by the use of a pipette. Less guesswork = less wasted oils!

17. Cotton Balls

Super simple and they are probably somewhere in your home already, but for things like deodorizing drawers and shoes, a few drops of essential oils on a cotton ball goes a long, long way!

18. Cotton Swabs

Again, simple, but a great way to apply some oils when you only need a TINY less-than-a-drop amount. (For instance, I recently used lavender oil on a burn on my lip, but a drop was too much — a small application with a cotton swap would be perfect!)

19. A Good Reference Book

Make educating yourself about essential oils a priority! The more you know, the more they can positively affect your life! There are lots of great essential oil books on the market — I like this one!

20. Diffuser Necklace

Lots of people like to wear their essential oils in a locket! These necklaces have a spot inside to add your favorite oils so they stay with you all day long.
