Easy Mini Pom Pom Christmas Tree DIY Craft
Learn how to make a DIY mini pom pom Christmas tree that is a perfect craft for the holiday season!
Many years ago, I traveled to Nepal for work. While walking through the beautiful markets one day, I came across many interesting DIY pieces and decor ideas made of mini pom poms.
I purchased a pom pom coaster and a decorative piece that had pom poms, elephants, beading, and bells. Needless to say, I was inspired by the creative work of Nepalese pom pom making.

Now I see pom pom art everywhere, from Target to Etsy shops, and I have had SO many of my own pom pom Christmas craft and Christmas DIY ideas running through my head lately that I really needed to get started on them right away. Hence, this post. One of many!
Supplies Needed for Mini Pom Pom Christmas Tree
- one bag of 1200 Pieces 1cm Assorted Pom Poms(feel free to use another color palette or style – I used this bag selection for this craft)
- low heat hot glue gun
- plenty of low heat glue gun sticks
- FloraCraft Foam Cone 3.8 Inch x 8.8 Inch White (you can try any size, really, just make sure you have plenty of pom poms to cover it)
- scissors (for any trimming of loose fuzz on pom poms)
How to Make a Mini Pom Pom Christmas Tree
The process is really easy and very difficult to “mess up” (if that’s even possible).
STEP ONE: Start by hot-gluing a row of pom poms around the bottom of the tree.
A specific pattern of color doesn’t really matter unless that is your goal. The only thing I was mindful of was not putting two of the same exact color side-by-side. The rest of the “pattern” is random because that was the look I was going for.
Once you make your way around the first row, start the second one by staggering the pom poms on top by placing each pom pom in between the lower ones (see image above for a visual). In other words, don’t glue pom poms right above each other unless you’re going for a linear look with straight vertical lines.
STEP TWO: Repeat all of the above steps until you reach the top of your tree. Since the top of the tree is flat, you’ll need to create the top using pom poms. Glue a single (or two if needed) pom pom on top of the flat tree to create a foundation to build off of. Keeping following the steps in the “STEP ONE” section until your tree is entirely covered. You can then choose to add a single pom pom on the very top (like I did with a red one) or leave as is. It’s cute either way!
Now you have a super cute Christmas decor item to style in your house for the holidays! This would also be a Christmas craft for kids (keep those hot glue guns on low heat for them) and you can experiment with other shapes, colors, and sizes of pom poms, as well as use jingle bells, Christmas lights, ornaments, or even tree toppers.
My mind is exploding with so many easy Christmas crafts this holiday season! Ooooo, what about a pom pom tree skirt? Okay, I’m going to wrap this up now, ha!

Hand-made X-mas trees are eco-friendly and that’s their biggest benefit. Your option is rocking cause it’s easy to make up with kids and have fun at the same time. Thanks a lot!
